Goddess of Education and Knowledge


The Goddess of education and knowledge is called Saraswati and Saraswati is the Goddess of music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning as well.  She is a part of the 'Tridevi' means the trinity of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati called Sri Lakshmi Chandralamba Parameshwari.  All the three forms of  Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati help the 'Tridev' meaning trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva called 'Trimurti roof LordLord Dattatreya.  Lord Dattatreya's Shrine is situated at Ghangapur in Afzalpur talks near Kalaburgi, in Karnataka, and the temple of Sri Lakshmi Chnadralamba Parameshwari is situated at Sannati near Vaadi, Kalburgi District, in Karnataka, India.  Both the pilgrimage centers, Ghanagapur and Sri Kshetra Sannati is on the bank of the river Bhima.  River Bhima is one of the famous and sacred rivers in South India.  River Bhima Joins river Amaraza and become Sangam near Ghanagapur around five Kilometer away from Sri Kshetra Ghangapur and the place is called Sangam where Sri Narasinha Saraswati Swami did penance. Sri Narasimha Saraswati Swami is the second incarnation of Lord Dattatrey.  The Tridev, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva are known to create, maintain, and regenerate the Universe, respectively.

Etymology

Saraswati is a Sanskrit word, a combination of 'Saras' meaning "pooling water", or "wonderful speech", and 'Wati' meaning "She who possesses". Here Saraswati meaning is "She who possesses wonderful speech" or "possessor of mortal knowledge" like flowing endlessly water that purifies everything whatever it comes in its way and goes ahead continuously without stopping until unless to reach the ocean or the destination.


The Structure of Devi Saraswati

Goddess Saraswati has remained important for the knowledge, learning, arts, and wisdom from the Vedic period through modern times Especially in Rigveda, She is worshiped as "Gnyana daayini and Vidyadayini" means Knowledge and Education giver. Devi Saraswati is generally shown to have four arms, in one hand holding a "Pustaka" means a book or script symbolizes the Vedas which have divine and eternal Universal knowledge. In the second hand holding a "Crystals Japa Mālā", representing the power of meditation, spirituality, and inner reflection of knowledge. On the third hand holding the pot of water is symbolism for soma rasa, the drink that liberates and leads to knowledge and cleanliness.  And finally in Her fourth hand holding a musical instrument called 'Veena' represents all creative arts, sciences, and harmony.  Saraswati is also associated with anurāga, the love for the rhythm of music, which represents all emotions and feelings expressed in 'Gana' means songs and speech.

Vasantha Panchami - Celebrates Jayanthi of Saraswati Mata

The Magha masa means the month called Magha, according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, the fifth day of the bright half of the day is called Vasanth Panchmi, which typically falls in late January or February month according to the Georgian Calendar.  Vasanth Panchami is celebrated as a great festival of 'Devi Saraswati Janmadin' means the birthday of Goddess Saraswati.  On this day throughout Bharatvarhs Devi Saraswati Puja will take place called Sarswati Puja and devotees of Saraswati mata seek blessings to gain the Knowledge of all education like Vidya, Music, Art, Wisdom, and Speech.  Bharatvarsh includes around 16 countries including present India and is called "Akhand Bharat".  Bharatvarsh spread up to 'Paras now Iran', Afghanistan, Pakistan, 'present India', Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Maldive, Thailand, Males hiya, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.  Other than the Indian subcontinent and Bhartvarsh, Devi Saraswati is worshiped in Japan and China in the name of Benzaiten as the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom.  In Japan, many temples are constructed on the name of Benzaiten, Benzaiten is the Divine Embodiment of knowledge, arts, sciences, and literature.

On Vasanth Panchami day, young children who begin education will do Saraswati Puja as "Vidya Prarambha Divas" means the first day of education and learning, they will write "Om" or "Om Namaha Shivaya" or "Aa, Aaa, Ie, Iee" or "O, Na, Ma, Si, Dham".  And receive blessings from Goddess Saraswati and elders of the family. Distribute sweet as "Prasad" means blessings of God and Goddesses and offer food to the near and dears.  Generally, all others perform Saraswati Puja to get Knowledge, Education, and blessings from the Goddess Saraswati.

Amarkosh or Synonyms of Devi Saraswati 

According to the ancient Hindu literature, Devi Saraswati is known by many names, what we called "Amarkosh" meaning synonyms. Synonyms of Mata Saraswati are 'Brahmani' meaning 'power of Brahma', 'Brahmi' meaning 'goddess of sciences', 'Bharati' meaning 'Goddess of history', 'Vani', meaning 'the of Music or Song', 'Vachi' meaning 'melodious speech or eloquent speaking', 'Varneshvari' here division of words is like this, 'Varna plus Eshwari' here Varna meaning letters and Eshwari meaning Goddess, on the whole; 'Goddess of letters', 'Kavijihvagravasini' here division of words are like this, 'Kavi+Jihva+Agra+Vasini' here Kavi meaning poet, Jihva m+meaning tongue, Agra meaning on, Vasini meaning dwelling, on the whole; 'one who dwells on the tongue of poets', 'Vidyadhatri' here division of words is like this, 'Vidya+Dhatri' here Vidya meaning education and Dhatri meaning provider, on the whole; 'Goddess who provides education', 'Veenavadini' here division of words is like this, 'Veena+Vadini', here Veena meaning 'the musical instrument called Veena', 'Vadini' meaning 'She who plays', on the whole; 'Goddess who plays Veena, the musical instrument that is held by Goddess Saraswati, Pustakdharini here division of words are like this, 'Pustaka+dharini', here 'Pustaka meaning book dharani meaning She who carries', on the whole; 'Goddess who carries a the book', Veenapani here the division of words is like this, 'Veena+Pani', here Veena meaning 'the musical instrument called Veena', Pani meaning She who carries in her hand', on the whole; 'Goddess who carries a veena in her hands', Hansavahini here the division of words is like this, 'Hansa+Vahini', here 'Hansa meaning swan and Vahini meaning She who sits', on the whole; 'Goddess who sit on swan', and Vagdevi here the division of words are like this, 'Vag+Devi', here 'Vag meaning speech or word or meaning and Devi meaning Goddess', on the whole; 'Goddess of speech'.

There are three famous and powerful Saraswati Temples in India.

The Sharada Peeth in Kashmir i.e., in PoK meaning 'Pakistan occupied Kashmir'.  This temple dedicated to the Goddess Sharada Devi and Hindus believe that it represents the spiritual location of the goddess Sati's fallen right hand.  This Saraswati Mata shrine is famous as "Shakti Peetha also".  Shakti Peetha Shrines is those places where the parts of the Goddess Sati's fell and become powerful places spiritually as well as dynamic "Powerhouses" on the Earth.  On these Shakti Peetha, devotees experience the positive vibration and reliefs from strain and pain.  Here, Sati is none other than Mata Parvati Devi and the beloved wife of Lord Shiva. Shringeri Sharadamba Temple, Shringeri, in Karnataka, and the Gnana Saraswati Temple in Basar on the banks of the River Godavari, in Nizamabad District, Telangana. Other than these three, some more Devi Saraswati or Sharada temples are there in India.
