The Supreme and Extreme Power of the World - The Shakti Peethas
Shakti or Sati is an Avatar of the Supreme Being Adi Para Shakti, the mother of the Trimurti called Dattatreya. THEY are Lord Brhama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva and ask THEM to take care of the Brahmanda or the Universe.
The Shakti or Sati, the main deity of Hinduism is worshipped as the Shakti Peethas (seat of
Shakti). This Goddess Shakti, the Goddess of power is the complete incarnation of Adi Para Shakti or "Prakruti" (nature), has three main manifestations, as Durga, Goddess of strength
and valour, as Mahakali,Goddess of destruction of evil and as Goddess Gowri, the Goddess of benevolence.
Lord Brahma's duty is to create the Brahmanda or the Universe, but He is unable to do this without His mother Adi Para Shakti. Therefore He performed a Yajna "A vedic ritual of fire sacrifice" to please Goddess Shakti and Lord Shiva. Goddess Shakti incarnated, separating from Lord Shiva and helped Lord Brahma in the creation of the Brahmanda or the Universe.
Lord Shiva always stay with Mother Shakti as Lord Bhairava "a manifestation of Lord Shiva" in all Shakti Peethas.

Places of Shakti Peethas
Most of these historic places of Goddess Shrines are in India, but there are seven in Bangladesh, three in Pakistan, three in Nepal, and one each in Tibet and Sri Lanka. There are total 108 Shakti Peethas and Adi Shankara Charya declared 18 are Maha Shakti Peethas.
The only exceptional Shakti Peetha Shrine is the Vindhyavasini Shakti Peetha. where Devi Maa took interest to reside after Her birth in Dwapar Yuga as the Sister of Krishna called Subhadra.
