Few Names of Lord Surya with Meaning
'Surya' is a Sanskrit word, its meaning is the Sun. According to ancient Indian literature, the synonyms of Lord Surya are Aditya, Arka, Bhanu, Savitr, Pushnen, Ravi, Martanda, Mitra, Bhaskara, Surya Narayan, and Vivasvan. Lord Surya is called different names in that some names with their meaning is as follows 'Vivasvat' meaning brilliant, 'Savitra' meaning the Nourisher, 'Bhaskara' meaning Light-maker, 'Dinakara' meaning Day-maker, 'Lokachachksuh' mean Eye of the World, 'Graharaja' meaning King of the 9 Constellations according to the Hinduism, and 'Sahasra-Kirana' meaning Of a 1,000 rays. According to the Saura tradition, Lord Surya is the solar deity in Hinduism, particularly Surya Bhagavan is the solar deity in states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

The iconography of Lord Surya is depicted with "Ek Chakra Rathadhari" meaning Bhagavan Surya Narayana's Chariot has only one Wheel and harnessed by seven horses, represents the seven primary colors of visible light, sometimes with seven days in a week, and sometimes with the seven primary colors of the rainbow. The service of the seven horses shows that a constant reminder to the Universe, all of the passage of time represented by the seven days of the week. And a wheel or 'Ek Chakra' is the representation of 'Dharmachakra' meaning the continuous movement of the wheel to remind us of our duty or responsibility towards life and society. In Vedas Lord Surya Narayana is admire and worship as a 'Sakshi Bhagavan's meaning God of the witness of all actions because He is ever-present as Sun God and always vigil in performing His duties. Hence He is called ‘Jagadaikha Chakshusaye’ meaning the ever-seen eye of the Universe.

According to the Brihat Samhita written by Varaha Mihira and he was living during the period c. 505 - c. 587, states that Surya should be shown with two hands and wearing a crown, with Northern style dress, especially Central Asian style with boots. According to the Vishnudharmottara another text, the iconography of Lord Surya should be shown with four hands, with flowers in two hands, a staff in third, and in fourth he should be shown to be holding Kundi palm leaf and pen i.e., writing equipment symbolizing that Lord Surya is the icon of knowledge. And His chariot is driven by Aruna, who is seated. Both the sides of Lord Surya Usha and Pratyusha are sitting representing that the dawn Goddesses. Both the Goddesses are shown to be shooting arrows towards darkness and welcoming Sunlight. Sometimes, these two Goddesses are replaced by Surya's consorts Devi Saranyu and Devi Chhaya. Devi Saranyu is the mother of Lord Yama and Devi Chhaya is the mother of Lord Shani.

Lord Surya Narayana is worshiping other than Hindus also. In China, one week consists of ten days and according to Chinese, there are ten Surya or Sun God, each traversing the sky every day of their ten days in a week. And after Lord Buddha, 'Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu', Chinese main deity is Lord Surya Narayan, they worship Him as the creator of 'Material Universe' meaning Lord of the creator of nature. According to the ancient Iranian pantheon, Sun God Surya is calling Hvar Khshaita. According to the eastern Iranian tradition, the Sun God is calling Avesta and Mithra also. In the western Iranian tradition, Mithra was directly associated with Sun and worshiped as "Sun God". On the whole Iranian practice of life are equivalent to the Vedic lifestyle and almost the same culture as ancient India. Because Iran was the part of "Akhanda Bharat" which was mentioned by Acharya Chanakya. According to Acharya Chanakya or Kautilya, around 16 countries are coming under "Akhnda Bharat" including present India. In Egypt Sun God Surya is called 'Ra' meaning the creator of the Material Universe and the creator of light and light is one of the important parts of life, that's why the Egyptians worship Lord Surya as their main deity. In Greeks, Sun God is calling Helois and Greeks believe that Helois drove the Sun across the sky from east to west in His Golden Chariot. And Greeks also worship Surya Bhagavan as the creator of the Material Universe. In Greenland, the Eskimos call Sun God as Malina, the Eskimos look at Sun God as a female form, and Malina is the Goddess name. And She is worshiped as the Goddess of the creator of nature meaning 'Material Universe'. In ancient and medieval cultures, Lord Surya is known as the Sun god and a common deity found in South America, Africa, and Asia and worshiped as God of Light. Parsees also worshiped Bhagavan Surya as a Sun God before moving to India. Mitravana now Multan, according to the Samba Purana, Maga Brahmins worshiped Lord Surya as their main deity as Sun God.
