One day, Rukumaganda was on hunting trip and stayed at the hermitage of Rishi Vachaknavi. The

left the ashram.  Mukunda became very lovesick.  Then King Indra took the form of Rukmaganda
and made love to her.  Mukunda became pregnant and gave birth to a son Gritsamada.  When Gritsamada came to know about his birth, he cursed his mother to become the "Bhor" plant.  In turn, Mukunda cursed Gritsamada, that a cruel rakshas will be born from him.  When they are cursing each other, suddenly they both heard a heavenly voice saying, "Indra is the father of Gristamada" both shoked.

Gritsamada, ashamed and become the devotee of Lord Ganesha and started a penance, Lord Ganesha
pleased by his penance and offered him a boon that he will bear a son and defeated only and only  by Lord Shiva.  Gritsamada asks Ganesh to bless the place, so that any devotees who pray here will be successful, and also urged Ganesha to stay there permanently and asked for knowledge of Brahma. Gritsamada built a temple in that forest and installed the Ganesha idol, and then called Varadavinayaka. Today the forest is known as Bhadraka.
