Twelve Jyotirlingas in Bharat (India)

Twelve Jyotirlingas in Bharat (India)

Mahadev the Supreme Being or Lord Shiva specially known as the Destroyer of evil.  On the night of the "Aadra Nakshatra" Lord Shiva first time clearly appeared himself on the Earth in the form of "Jyotir Linga" the highly respected and deeply dedicated manifestation of Lord Shiva.  Jyotirlinga is the radiant sign or phallus symbol of the Almighty Lord Shiva.  A Jyotirlinga, is a devotional representation of the Supreme God Shiva where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of a Jyotirlinga.  Here Jyoti means 'radiance'(light or radiance) and linga means 'Image or Sign' of Lord Shiva thus "Jyotir Linga" means the Radiant Sign of Lord Shiva.  Totally there are 62 "Jyotirlingas" in India and surrounding India, in other words we can say at Akhand Bharat.  Out of 62, 12 "Jyotirlinga Shrines" are main in India.  All these Jyotirlingas are omnipresent and spreaded the super power "Shakti" through out the Universe.  According to the "Taittariya Upanishad"(mainly there are 13 Upanishads), the twelve Principles of Brahma, the Maya, the Jiva, the Mind, intellect, subconscious mind, ego and the Panchamahabhutas have been represented as the Twelve Jyotirlingas.
