Srishaila Temple Complex and Festivals at Temple
The main temple of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy is constituted of very huge complex. The temple complex has two separate Shrines for Lord Mallikarjuna and Devi Bhramaramba along with Mandapams, Big Halls with Majestic Pillars, various other small Shrines such as Vriddha Mallikarjuna, Sahasra Lingeswara, Ardha Narishwara, Veerabhadra, Uma Maheswara with Mirror Mandapam.
Nava Brahma temples are present in the inner courtyard. There is a Majestic wall around the temple complex which is made up of stones. These walls have four main gates, known as Four Maha Dwaras,East,West,Nort and South.

Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple
The entry point on the eastern side is called as Maha Dwaram. After the Mahadwaram, there is huge Mandapam with around 42 pillars and a sheltered area at the entrance to a building projected towards northern, eastern and southern sides. At the center of the inner courtyard is the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple. The temple faces east and is consisted of sections such as Mukha Mandapa, Antarala and Garbhagriha. Garbhalaya or Garbhagriha is 60 sq.feet structure with an impressive entrance while in its center is the self manifested Jyotirlinga. At the center of this Mandapam, a huge sculpture of Nandi is placed, the Vahana of Lord Shiva,it is facing towards Lord Mallikarjuna. There is another Mandapam named Nandi Mandapa. To its west is the Veeraiah Mandapam which is said to be built in 1378 AD during Vijayanagar reign.
There is a Sahasra Lingeswar temple installed by Sri Rama in Treta Yuga. In Dwapara Yuga Pandavas installed five Lingas.
Festivals at Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Swamy Temple
Although Bhaktas or Devotees can visit Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Temple throughout the year, visiting during festivals adds more benefit to the Darshan.
1. Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavam is one of the most popular festival of the temple. This festival will celebrates 7 Days. This festival is celebrated in the month of February or March.
2. Second biggest festival is Ugadi festival, this is celebrated for 5 days and celebrated as New Year of Hindus. On Ugadi festival a Panaka or a Juice is prepared by the flower of Neem Tree and Jagery, distributed as a Medicine,so that throughout the year we can protect ourselves from diseases.
3. Dasara celebrations, celebrate ten days as Devi Sharannavaratri and on Tenth day a Simolanhgam
take place means crosing the boundary of the village, as the symbol of Victory.
4. Kumbhothsava, Sankranthi Utsava, Arudrothsava, Kartheeka Mahothsava, Sravananamosothsva are a few important festivals celebrated at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple.
